About Us
Council for Voluntary Service Nairn was established on the 3rd October 1983 to serve the Nairn Area

CVS Nairn's main goals are to encourage and support the Voluntary and Charitable sector in Nairnshire. We also, where appropriate, act in a coordinating role and liaise with other local organisations to identify local needs and how they might be met by the voluntary sector.
We are a company limited by guarantee, and our team of personnel comprises three employees and three directors. We belong to the CVS Network, which consists of 56 similar independent organisations. We are funded principally by the Scottish Government.
There are over 120 voluntary and charitable organisations in Nairnshire ranging from small local societies and clubs to branches of National bodies. We encourage all such organisations to become members of CVS Nairn, and in return for a modest annual fee each organisation is entitled to benefit from the services we offer. We are currently engaged in our own change process and are committed to extending our services to include:
-
Help with meeting the increasing regulatory burdens affecting all organisations
-
Help with achieving the highest standards of governance
-
Identifying possible sources of funding (local and national) and assisting with the application process. Each potential funder has its own procedures and guidelines, and success is only achieved if these are complied with.
-
Signposting to information sources
-
Office support services (e.g. IT facilities, typing, photocopying, binding, desktop publishing, mailing, document production laminating and E-mail.)
-
Hosting regular briefings and seminars about matters of topical interest.
-
Producing regular newsletters to highlight issues of concern and share successful outcomes and good practice.
-
Identifying community and voluntary issues and taking them forward to the relevant agencies.
-
Participating in local forums concerned with the well-being of the local community.
