What is Community Planning Partnerships?

v      Community planning is the process through which the connections between national priorities decided by the Scottish Government and those at Highland, local and neighbourhood levels are improved.

v      It is about making sure that people and communities in the Highlands are genuinely engaged in making decisions on public services which affect them.

v      It requires a commitment from organisations in the Nairn to work together, not apart, in providing better public services. It provides the over-arching partnership framework within which other initiatives and partnerships can be co-ordinated and, where necessary, acting to rationalise and simplify public sector working arrangements.

v      In Highland community planning involves representatives of the voluntary and business sectors as well as public sector agencies.

A plan of action to deliver better public services in the Highlands, in keeping with the priorities of the Scottish Government, has been launched. The single outcome agreement sets out how The Highland Council and its community planning partners will address the 15 national outcomes, detailing what can be expected locally:

1.     We live in a Scotland that is the most attractive place to do business in Europe

2.     We realise our full economic potential with more and better employment opportunities for our people

3.     We are better educated, more skilled and more successful, renowned for our research and innovation

4.     Our young people are successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens

5.     Our children have the best start in life and are ready to succeed

6.     We live longer, healthier lives
