Council for Voluntary Service Nairn was established on the 3rd October 1983 as the Voluntary Association of Nairn Groups, to serve the Nairn Area. CVS Nairn originated in the need for a provider of a central source of information about constitutions, fund raising, contracts for services, government initiatives and all voluntary activities. As a Council of Voluntary Service, part of a network of Councils throughout Scotland, we are partially funded by central government and work together to help voluntary organisations to meet today’s needs. With the active support of the community and the backing of the public authorities we strive to develop our services and so encourage and support voluntary activity in the Nairn area. | |

CVS Nairn can help start new groups and help them work together by co-operating with one another and with the public authorities. This avoids duplication of effort and encourages services to complement one another. It also provides a channel to express views to public authorities to enable genuine communication to take place. There is no question that a coherent and vibrant voluntary sector in Nairn is something which is a valuable asset and as such CVS Nairn’s services play a significant role in encouraging and promoting this sector. |
